Target Recognition using Spaceborne Radar -- A Study of Local Feature Pixel Extraction Filter --

(in English) We propose an auto target recognition method using SAR images of a spaceborne radar. It employs a template matching method with local feature pixel extraction. For numerical experiments, SAR images calculated by computer simulation were used as reference images. As local feature pixel extraction, neighbor pixels of target’s edges were extracted from an original SAR image. Fifteen SAR images acquired with a spaceborne radar were categorized in 2 airplanes. Our method's average difference of target image's fitness between two airplane's recognition filters was about 1.3 time as large as that of conventional method. It reveals our method discriminates 2 targets clearly.
