Intermittent Transmitter Circuit with Novel Feedback Source Follower Amplifier for Solar Powered 5-mm-cubic Wireless Sensor Nodes with 1/20 λ Dipole Antenna

(in English) Ultra-low power impulse OOK transmitter circuit for ultra-small wireless sensor nodes (WSNs) is developed. Intermittent driving RF circuits can dramatically reduce the power consumption and a differential source follower amplifier with a feedback controller can efficiently drive a small size antenna, which always imposes the size and the power efficiency. The fabricated solar powered 5-mm cubic node transmits signal 10-m distance with energy efficiency of 625 pJ/bit when the vibration sensor of WSN detects the event.
