Denoising of HDR Images Using Correlation of LDR Images

(in English) High Dynamic Range (HDR) images have a wide dynamic range and can be generated by synthesizing several Low Dynamic Range (LDR) images which are taken by changing exposure in the same scene.
However, noises comprised in LDR images degrade the quality of HDR images and thus the noise reduction is necessary in synthesis process.
In this paper, HDR images are generated from several LDR images with different exposure in the same scene.
LDR images are decomposed by wavelet transform and synthesized by using the weighting functions.
In the synthesis process, we propose a noise reduction method where the wavelet coefficients are handled by thresholding based on the correlation between LDR images.
Finally, the experimental results are shown to demonstrate its effectiveness.
