To enable visually impaired people to efficiently comprehend graphical information, such as GUI menu layout and figures, we have already reported on a presentation method that can present vibrations for each randomly located content object using different frequencies. In this report we have solved the problems of this method and developed a presentation method for tactile displays that can vibrate at any local areas in various vibration modes. 凸 or vibration presentation method for the non-image part in the displayed object and the overlapping objects was described. Also, a presentation method that detects the hue of images such as PNG and BMP images, and converts these images into various vibrations was described. By using this method, the user can determine by touch alone the categories of items in a menu or understand information such as important positions on a map or graph. This enables the rapid transmission and understanding of information similar to that normally obtained visually. |
