A Study of the Application of Model Checking to Embedded Software Based on Interrupt Processing

(in English) Detecting errors from incorrect interrupt processing when testing embedded systems is difficult because same scenario can not be reproduced. It is possible to resolve the problem using Model Checking. However there are not enough researches to suggest that Model Checking is effective and practical for hardware-dependent systems. In this paper, we clarify the necessity of the system modeling including hardware and propose the framework of interrupt processing designed by Promela language. This method was applied for ARP protocol behavior and confirmed that it is able to execute the Model Checking effectively for the software engineers who don’t know the hardware systems and model checking.
