Resonance is well known as a mechanism for high energy absorption from sinusoidal external force in a linear system.
In addition, it is theoretically shown that energy absorption rate is governed by a phase difference between external force and a system which receives the force.
On the other hand, nonlinear energy scavenging devices are widely used to enhance the energy absorption from external forces with widespread power spectrum of, for example, wind and water flow .
However it is incompletely understood what mechanism should be applied.
In this report, on the basis of resonance, we define a phase in a nonlinear system and reveal the phase difference governs the energy absorption rate |
