(in English) The purpose of this study was to develop an estimation method of four-dimensional (4D) dose distributions during radiotherapy based on a 2D/3D registration. “Treatment” computed tomography (CT) images were estimated by deforming three-dimensional (3D) planning CT images by using affine transformation matrices so that a two-dimensional (2D) planning portal dose image (PDI) can be similar to a certain time 2D dynamic clinical PDI. The planning PDI was calculated by applying a dose calculation method (convolution algorithm) to a geometry of the planning CT image and a virtual water phantom. The dynamic clinical PDI was estimated from electronic portal imaging device (EPID) dynamic image acquired during a treatment time. The parameters of affine transformation matrices were optimized by a Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm. Finally, the 4D dose distributions during the treatment time were calculated by applying the dose calculation method to the simulated 4D “treatment” CT images. The proposed method might be useful for assessment of the outcomes and risk management.
