| (in English) | High-speed switches are essential devices to construct the next-generation optical networks. We fabricated a compact non-blocking 8×8 InAlGaAs/InAlAs Mach-Zehnder-type optical switch (MZ-OS) fabric. This switch fabric was consisted of twenty eight 2×2 MZ-OS elements in a cascading configuration. As a result, it operated with low switching currents of 13 mA, crosstalks of about -10 dB and extinction ratios of about 15 dB. Switching times were 2.4ns and 1.5ns for for rise and fall time2, respectively. | |
