[Poster Presentation] Improvement of independent component analysis by an estimation of the error distribution of higher-order statistics

(in English) Independent component analysis (ICA) is a solution for blind source
separation problems.
ICA can estimate the sources by utilizing the higher-order statistics
under the assumptions that the sources are
independent of each other and they are given according to any
non-Gaussian distributions.
In the previous works on ICA, it was known that ICA can estimate the
sources accurately if the sample size of them is sufficiently large.
However, it has been unclear which ICA is robust or not for a small size
of samples.
In this paper,
a new extension of
joint approximate approximation (JAD, which is a method of ICA) is proposed
in order to ameliorate the
robustness for a small size of samples.
In the proposed method, the error distribution of the estimation of
the higher-order statistics in JAD is estimated when the sample size is
small.
The optimization problem of JAD is regarded as a maximum-likelihood problem by
utilizing the estimated error distribution. Then, a more robust ICA is
proposed.
Moreover, numerical experiments are done in order to verify the validity of this method.
