The design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is crucial for improving energy efficiency in smart homes domain. Therefore, designing a controller to operate the HVAC systems in a smart way is critically important to address the energy and environmental concerns worldwide. By using cyber-physical systems (CPS) approach, the multiple physical platforms can be efficiently controllable by the unified control algorithm, in which the effectiveness of the unified control algorithm depends on the performance of multiple physical platforms to achieve the desirable result of the entire system in a timely manner. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between the sensor accuracy of multiple physical platforms and the performance of unified control algorithm. By using MATLAB/Simulink and the raw experiment data obtained from our intelligent home environment, we build a simulator to test and verify our proposed hybrid temperature control (HTC) system and its control algorithm for thermal comfort in the environment of smart homes. Through the linear regression method, we use a fitting method to improve the sensor accuracy without increasing the monetary cost of the proposed system. Simulation results reveal that the performance of the control algorithm for HTC system is highly improved by using the fitting method compared to the averaging method. |
