Gain Improvement for Rectangular Horn Antenna with Additional EBG

(in English) This paper presents the quadratic shaped of woodpile Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) to improve the gain of conventional rectangular horn antenna. The important technique for gain improvement of this method that is, the electromagnetic fields from horn antenna will be transferred through the structure of woodpile EBG, which is appropriately design. The proposed antenna has the advantages of low profile, low cost for fabrication, light weight, and its gain is increased about 8 dB, approximately. The antenna characteristics i.e., radiation patterns and gain of antenna are simulated by A Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. The gain at dominant frequency of 10 GHz is 26.31 dB.
