With the aim to improve the efficiency of single-phase PWM DC-AC inverter, in this article, the switching phase of the PWM output is optimized by using particle swarm optimization.
Particle swarm optimization is an algorithm that a large number of particles explore the optimum value into the multi-dimensional space.
We carry out some numerical simulations to design the switching phase.
The design of the switching-phase is an important role to improve the efficiency of the single-phase PWM DC-AC inverter.
In order to design the switching-phase by using the particle swarm optimization, we evaluate the effective value of the output and the total harmonic distortion.
The THD serves as an index to evaluate all harmonics.
Since the output of the inverter passes through a low-pass filter, the actual output wave contains only the restricted frequencies.
Therefore, we apply a modified THD to evaluate the output. The modified THD treats only limited frequencies.
Also, we compare the performance of our proposed design method with the conventional triangle-comparison method to generate the PWM output.
Comparing with results of numerical simulations, the our proposed procedure improves the performance extremely. |
