Improved error correction method of PPM compression

(in English) Although the PPM compression is inferior to Ziv-Lempel coding in compression and decompression speed, it is one of the best compression methods in compression ratio. Data compression techniques are often used in computer systems and communication systems. It has a problem that it is very vulnerable to errors in general. Therefore, error recovery methods for some compression methods have been proposed. The conventional error recovery method for PPM compression cannot achieve good error recovery rare, because it does not protect header data, which are important data for decoding. In this paper, we propose modified error recovery method for PPM compression which protects the header data more strongly than the other data from errors. Evaluation results show that the proposed method can increase the error recovery rate.
