In this study, we try to investigate the accuracy of reliability assessment models for 2-component parallel systems in some dependent environment. We assume that two components firstly have the same hazard rate function and work independently and concurrently. However, when the first failure occurs on the one of the two components, the surviving component's hazard rate switches to the worse one for the excessive work load. In such cascade-failure environment, a reliability analyst has two models to analyze the data sets of failure occurrence times of each component. One model is a traditional Weibull analysis method, and the other employs a copula function for describing the dependency between the failure occurrence times of each component. Our goal in this study is to find whether the copula model can contribute to the good reliability estimation than that by using the traditional methods, based on computer simulation. |
