Comparison of eye movement between E-books and paper books while reading the text of spread pages.

(in English) In recent year, tablet devices are spreading, reading the text of spread pages on E-books like paper books has become possible. Moreover, the number of digital contents of E-books is increasing and the reading environment on electronic devices is ready. Eye movements while reading books researches have a long history. Various researchers have reported the useful results to use many measure methods. But, there is a few research focusing E-books. In this research, we measured eye movements while reading the text of spread pages, and compared of eye movement between E-books and paper books. As a result, there is a difference at page turning operation and eye movements. In E-books, regular eye movements are occurred. In contrast, in paper books, free eye movements are occurred. Based on these results, we consider reading paper books is high flexibility and reader dependence compared reading E-books.
