Investigation on Inter-cell Succsessive Interference Canceller Based on Soft Detection in LTE-Advanced Downlink

(in English) In LTE-Advanced, to improve the user throughput, non-linear receivers which cancel the inter-cell interference signals using estimated channel matrices, modulation and coding schemes, and other physical layer parameters for the interference signals are investigated. In this paper, as a non-linear receiver, we focused on the successive interference canceller (SIC), which subtracts the replica signals for the inter-cell interference obtained based on the soft decision from the received signal. Furthermore, we show the improvement by the SIC compared to the conventional interference rejection combining (IRC) receiver. When assuming a cell-edge user in a macrocell deployment scenario and 4-by-2 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) configuration, simulation results show that the SIC can improve the average received signal-to-interference plus noise power ratio (SINR) up to 1.5 dB compared to the IRC receiver at the same user throughput level, depending on the received quality and modulation scheme for the interference signal.
