Present work aims at obtaining useful information for design and evaluation of practical ultrasonic cleaning tanks via a finite element simulation approach. In general practice, a vibrator is installed directly to the bottom plate of the cleaning tank to form the radiator. Sound pressure distribution in the liquid bath, which is surrounded by the vibrating plate walls, is then considered as an axisymmetric model in which the coupling between the elastic plate vibration and the sound pressure in the liquid is taken into account. Then, using the coupled fluid-plate model, the cleaning tank is analyzed and the effect of the existence of the object to be cleaned is calculated and the results of the sound pressure distribution are verified with the measured. Also the experimental observation of the sound pressure distribution pattern is shown, in which an aluminum foil inserted in the field is eroded in the regions corresponding to high pressure due to the activation of cavitation. These numerical results are compared with the experimental results whenever they are available. |
