A Performance Study on the Chaos-based Rate Control Scheme through Packet-based Simulation Research

(in English) The TCP global synchronization is a phenomenon that window control actions of different flows are synchronized. It causes degradation of the utilization of network bandwidth. To avoid this problem, we have proposed a transmission rate control scheme that is based on chaotic nature appearing in coupled oscillators. In addition, we have shown that our proposed control can improve the entire network utilization through fluid approximation based simulation. However, since the results observed in fluid model does not directly mean effective in actual networks, we should investigate characteristics of our proposed rate control model through packet-based simulation. In this paper, we implement our proposed chaos-based flow control on network simulator NS2, and we compare our chaos-based flow control with RED with respect to throughput and fairness. In addition, we show characteristics of our proposed control in some different network environments.
