An asynchronous cellular automaton model of a nonlinear auditory nervous system
Masato Izawa (Osaka Univ.), Hiroyuki Torikai (Kyoto Sangyo Univ.) NLP2013-150
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The mammalian cochlear consists of nonlinear compornents: lymph (fluid dynamics), basilar menbrane (vibrating membrane), outer hair cell (active dumper), inner hair cell (neural transducer), and spiral ganglion cell (analog-to-spikes encoder).
In this paper, a spiral ganglion cell model using an asynchronous cellular automaton is intorduced.
It is shown that the model can reproduce some typical nonlinear responses of the spiral ganglion cell, e.g., parallel spike density modulation and adaptation.
