(in English) Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) is a promising technology for seamlessly connecting wired optical and wireless radio links each other. In this paper, we propose a new application field using RoF transmission technology, where optical fiber transmission systems are promptly restored by wireless transmission links when the optical fibers are cut off at plural points due to disasters and so on. First, the concept of an optical and radio seamless communication system is overviewed and technical challenges particular to such a system are summarized. The experimental results on the switching from 100 Gbit/s optical transmission to 10 Gbit/s optical and wireless transmissions are also described.
