Communication-distance-independent Analog Eigenmode Transmission for Short-range MIMO

(in English) This report proposes an implementation method of analog eigenmode transmission for short-range MIMO using only 180-degree hybrid couplers. In case that a whole MIMO array including transmitting and receiving arrays is configured in line-of-sight and symmetrically with respect to some reference planes, channel matrix in the system also becomes symmetric. Then, the channel matrix can be diagonalized by connecting 180-degree hybrid couplers to both ports at transmitter and receiver sides, that is, the analog eigenmode-transmission can be realized. This proposed technique can diagonalize channel matrix regardless of the array configuration, such as type of antennas and antenna spacing, as long as the symmetry of system configuration is assured. Furthermore, the numerical analysis verifies that the distance between transmitter and reciever has no effect on the channel orthogonality.
