Electronic Musical Instrument "Cymis" with Touch Panel for the Visually Impaired

(in English) The purpose of the present study is to develop an accessible electronic musical instrument “Cymis” for visually impaired persons to play and enjoy by pointing a touch panel. It is significant characteristics of Cymis that pre-programmed music scores are stored in the computer. Preparatory experiments of performing Cymis were done where the sight of both eyes of non-visually impaired subjects was decreased almost to 0.005 by covering eyes with a cloth. It was found that persons without visual dysfunctions could play Cymis properly with the user interfaces.
