Recently, we proposed a multi-block frequency-domain equalization (MB-FDE) for single-carrier (SC) space-time block coded (STBC) time-division duplex (TDD) transmission in high mobility environment and showed that, when perfect channel state information (CSI) case, MB-FDE can achieve a good BER performance in high mobility environment. However, when using actual channel estimation (CE), the performance improvement by MB-FDE decreases due to the CE error caused by rapid channel fluctuation. In this paper, we study sophisticated channel estimation for SC-STBC TDD transmission in high mobility environment. In the proposed channel estimation called as adaptive two-dimension MIMO channel estimation, MIMO channel estimation and time variation prediction are simultaneously performed by using multiple two-dimension filters which are jointly optimized based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. Furthermore, higher channel estimation accuracy is obtained by combining iterative channel estimation. We evaluate, by computer simulation, bit error rate (BER) performance when using the proposed CE and discuss effectiveness of the proposed CE. |
