QCN(Quantized Congestion Notification) is Layer 2 congestion control in data center network. QCN controls sender's transmission rate with feedback information from a congested switch. We have already revealed that there are sender(s) that cannot receive any feedback frame during congestion period due to probabilistic feedback transmission behavior when the number of flows going through a congested link increases, which causes unstable queue length behavior. To resolve this technical problem, we proposed QCN/DC which integrates QCN with delay-based congestion control. In this paper, we propose new methods for two remained technical problem of QCN/DC; 1) Link utilization becomes low when a new flow joins, 2) RTT threshold for switching between QCN and delay-based congestion control should be adaptively defined. For the former problem, we propose smooth switching which moderately switches transmission rate when transmission rate decision moves from delay-based to QCN. For the latter problem, adaptive threshold computed by measured RTT is proposed. Our simulation results for various scenarios show that our proposed methods regulate queue length fluctuation adequately. |
