A Study on an Adaptive Modulation Format Method for Elastic Lambda Aggregation Network

(in English) Elastic Lambda Aggregation Network (EλAN) is metro-access convergence network to be able to change bandwidth elastically by optimizing modulation format, the number of subcarriers, and symbol rate (optical signal parameters). It is necessary to develop algorithm for optimizing optical signal parameters depending on various situations. In this paper, we propose a novel method to optimize a modulation format as a function of transmission length and quality of service for EλAN, and we show calculation result of adaptive modulation format in case we apply proposed method to model network. Moreover, we confirm that proposed method can reduce bandwidth about 22 % compared to a conventional approach.
