For an examination of coronary artery of the heart, chest CT is now the mainstream. However, the demand for coronary MRI examination (MRCA) has increased, because it has no side effects of the contrast agent and radiation exposure, which is inevitable using CT. In MRCA, the operator has to find the stationary period, which takes long time. Previous studies tried to find it using template matching techniques or difference between the pixel intensities along frames of the cine images, but the detection accuracy of the stationary phase was not high sufficiently. In this study, we use estimated position of the mitral valve, tricuspid valve and the apex as known coordinates. Then, position of the coronary artery was estimated with high accuracy by using a template matching techniques. In addition, we propose a method to track the position of coronary artery in a cine image volume by updating the template to determine the stationary phase. We report the result of the method described above in this paper. |
