[Poster Presentation] Time Domain Offset Voltage Detector for Self Calibrating Dynamic Latched Comparator

(in English) A low-offset dynamic latched comparator is required in precision ADCs.
A pre-amplifier is usually used in front of dynamic stage in a comparator to reduce offset voltage.
However, such a pre-amplifier requires a large chip area and static current.
A digitally offset calibration technique is proposed for the proposed a dynamic comparator.
An offset voltage detection is impossible in voltage domain because a dynamic latched comparator is non-linear circuit.
In this study, the time domain offset detection using a meta-stability is proposed.
The proposed method requires nano-seconds order time resolution. Therefore, a time amplification and a TDC(Time to Digital Converter) are used to realize an offset voltage detector.
Measurement results of the proposed comparator fabricated in a standard 0.18-$rm mu m$ CMOS technology show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
