[Poster Presentation] An ultra-low-voltage power-supply monitor circuit for wireless-powered microparticle manipulation system

(in English) This paper presents a voltage sensor (VS) circuit to monitor the supply voltage induced on wireless-pow-ered microparticle manipulation (WPMM) chip. The VS utilizes a simplified all digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL) to convert the voltage to a digital code and transmit the code to a remote control unit by a backscatter. In the ADPLL, a DCO based on a current-starved ring oscillator has been designed, which converts supply voltage to phase information and can fully be operated in the subthreshold region. In order to provide bias current for the DCO, a robust bias circuit consists of proposed dual-source-degeneration (DSD) inverters is used. This VS has been fabricated with a 0.18-µm one-poly five-metal standard CMOS process. The experimental results show that the VS can accomplish an conversion from voltage to a specific code, in a supply voltage range of 0.5-0.7 V.
