Detection of Wormhole Attack in Wireless Sensor Network with XMesh Protocol
Takashi Minohara, Aoi Yoshii (Takushoku Univ.) DC2013-91
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In recent years, wireless sensor networks become an important technique
to monitor physical or environmental conditions. However the open
nature of the wireless communication make them vulnerable to various
security attacks. Wormhole attack is one of the most serious attacks
against wireless sensor network.
It is difficult to prevent wormhole attacks, because wormholes are
created with regular routing procedure. Most of proposed methods
against wormhole attack assume uniform transmission range of radio
propagation, but it is not always true by the effect of obstacles.
We have employed an experimental environment to observe
behavior of wormhole attacks. In this paper, we report some empirical
results of wormhole detection in real wireless sensor network.
