Proposal of Multistage-Feedforward Carrier Phase Estimation for Optical 16-QAM Signals

(in English) M-th power algorithm known as a carrier phase estimation method in coherent optical detection has a limited estimation range and is unable to track a frequency offset beyond several GHz. In this paper, we propose a multistage-feedforward method for carrier phase estimation of 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) signals, and numerically study its estimation range of the frequency offset. The proposed method is predicted to have a good robustness against laser phase noise and a wide estimation range of frequency offset more than 12% of the symbol rate.
