Connectivity Evaluation of Prototyped TVWS LTE Terminal Adapter

(in English) Recently, a frequency resource shortage problem has been aggravated due to increase of high-speed and high-capacity communication. To solve this problem, traffic offloading from an existing band to TV white-spaces (TVWS) has been investigated. Some communication systems such as IEEE802.11af for the WLAN system and IEEE802.22.2 for the WRAN system have been promoted for utilizing TVWS and a cellular system in TVWS will be also advanced. Authors have developed a TDD/FDD dual mode TVWS LTE system and prototyped TVWS LTE base station and terminal adapter. To operate an FDD mode in TVWS, pair band frequencies of transmission and reception are preferred to be determined independently for an efficient use of a frequency resource, unlike an existing LTE system. However, there are some cases where RF performance is remarkably deteriorated according to a combination of pair band frequencies and it may affect connectivity. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the connectivity of the prototyped LTE terminal adapter according to radio parameter setting conditions including a combination of pair band frequencies, to develop a management system of RF parameters in consideration of such conditions. In this study, connectivity performance of the prototyped LTE terminal adapter was evaluated in various conditions of radio parameters by measuring the receiving sensitivity.
