A Method Controlling the State Transition of a Mobile Terminal Based on its Characteristics in Application Layer

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We have proposed a method controlling state transition of a mobile terminal that reduces the number of control signals in a mobile network. The method minimizes the sum of signals in the state transition and the handover procedure by calculating time that a mobile terminal stays on connected state after it's communication based on it's communication and
move characteristics. However the method cannot update the time as soon as the characteristcs change because it takes some time that the mobile network detects the change.
We propose a system architecture enables an application to notify a mobile network of a mobile terminal's communication and move characteristics, and also show that the architecture effectively works in case the characteristics change with simulation of a logistic service.
