In this paper, spectrum sensing sensitivity of OFDM pilot signal using maximal ratio combining has been evaluated by simulation with carrier frequency offset correction (CFO) and symbol synchronization (SS). For dynamic spectrum access of cognitive radio systems, the spectrum sensing method using OFDM pilot signal has low complexity and high sensitivity in signal detection. However, the sensitivity of the method has been deteriorated by carrier frequency offset because sub carrier frequency interval for OFDM is narrow. This paper therefore evaluates the spectrum sensing sensitivity of OFDM pilot signal by taking into account the influence of CFO error and SS error. As a result, the spectrum sensing sensitivity of OFDM pilot signal with both CFO error and SS error is about 8 dB lower than that without both CFO error and SS error. However, spectrum sensing of OFDM pilot signal with both CFO error and SS error can improve to more than about 9.5 dB compared with spectrum sensing of energy detection. |
