Measurement of Phase Center Location of a Cavity-backed Spiral Antenna
Hai Liu, Motoyuki Sato (Tohoku Univ.) AP2013-192
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The precise knowledge of the antenna phase center is of great importance for the signal processing and accurate ranging using a radar system. This paper proposes an experimental method to determine the frequency-dependent location of antenna phase center. A two-dimensional survey is carried out to acquire the transmission signal at different offsets. From the offset-dependent phase of each transmission frequency component, the frequency-dependent location of phase center is derived. A laboratory test using a cavity-backed planar equiangular spiral antenna, which is a common kind of frequency-independent and dispersive antenna, demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.
