Fail-Stop signature (FSS) schemes are digital signature schemes in which there are many signatures that pass the signature verification other than the valid signature. From this, it is considered that unforgeability of FSS schemes holds even in the case where adversaries have unlimited computational power, while that of "ordinary" digital signature schemes holds only in the case where adversaries have polynomially-bounded computational power. In this paper, indistinguishability between the valid signature and a non-valid signature is innovated as an security requirement of FSS schemes for the purpose that an FSS scheme is used as a sub-protocol. Then, the relation between indistinguishability and unforgeability is discussed in order to clarify the role of indistinguishability in FSS schemes. |
