Image Retrieval Based on Group Photo Database Organization

(in English) Socially related people such as family or friends often take their photos together.
This paper proposes an efficient and accurate method for retrieving images containing
a specific person by organizing a database of such group photos. As a family consists of the parents and their children, people groups have a hierarchical structure.
Thus, the proposed method firstly clusters the images capturing the same group of people by using the Bag of People (BoP) features which represent the co-occurrence of faces in the same images, and then connects the clusters if the group of people in the images in one cluster is a subset of the group of people in the images in the other cluster. Given a query image, the proposed method performs the coarse-to-fine search by skipping the search from the clusters which are unlikely to contain the persons in the query image in order to improve the efficiency.
Further, a classifier is learned by the relevance feedback to the search results to improve the search accuracy.
