| (in English) | Modern web-browsing services contain a number of rich objects, which are dynamically produced by servers and client PCs at diverse locations. Consequently, we face complications in understanding the communication structure of traffic generated when accessing websites. To improve the response time and suppress the amount of traffic transferred in networks, we need to adequately control caches, i.e., the placement and replacement of objects, based on the communication structure of web traffic. In this paper, we measure the communication structure of traffic generated when accessing about 1,000 most popular websites from 12 locations in the world using the PlanetLab. We investigate the locality tendencies of various metrics, e.g., server distance, delay, and object count, and we apply the cluster analysis to web sites based on the locality tendencies for various metrics in each object type and URL category. As a result, we find an insight to effectively improve the user response time through the cache control methods based on the locality tendencies of web sites. | |
