Electric Field Measurements with a 3D Semi-solid Multi-layer Human Head Equivalent Phantom

(in English) Mobile terminals such as mobile phones and smart phones have been
widely used recently and it is important to assess experimentally the
power absorption in a human head since the electromagnetic computer
simulation, including the complex actual layout of the printed
circuit board inside those wireless devices, is difficult from the
practical point of view. Therefore, a simplified liquid homogeneous
phantom is commonly used in assessing the approximate power
absorption in a human head placed in the vicinity of a transmitting
wireless device. Though, an actual human head is composed of multiple
tissues and the power absorption in an actual human head needs to be
evaluated with multi-layer human head equivalent phantom simulating
more accurate inside human head structure.
This paper describes a novel bone equivalent phantom, which is
suitable to fabricate multi-layer human head phantoms. Also, a multi-layer
human head phantom consisting of six tissues: 1) skin, 2) eye, 3)
fat, 4) muscle, 5) bone and 6) brain has been proposed and fabricated.
Finally, the electric field distribution measurements with the
fabricated multi-layer human head phantom have also been presented.
