The demand for biometric authentication technologies, such as vein authentication or fingerprint authentication is rapidly growing in the current digital society. An appropriate biological detection method, which is capable of detecting the impersonation attack, is also indispensable to counteract the possible "spoofing" attacks against biometric authentication technologies. For example, the susceptibility of different biometric fingerprint sensors to synthesized fake fingerprints has been reported so far. In order to increase the accuracy of the security during digital authentication, it is important to develop countermeasures against such impersonation attacks. Thus, a unique band-pass filter employing the CSRR structure, which enables to detect impersonating human hand has been reported as a biological detection device for vein authentication. This paper describes the optimized configuration of the sensor using CSRR structure for a biological detection device that can be used with fingerprint authentication. Also, a novel relative template for the biological detection algorithm has been proposed to reduce the detection errors that caused by individual differences. Finally, the measurement results with the fabricated sensor show the effectiveness of the proposed configuration of the sensor and relative detection algorithm for the sensor. |
