[Invited Talk] Report on OFC2014: Optical Access

(in English) This paper reviews the latest key technologies on optical access systems reported in OFC 2014 which was held in San Francisco, during Mar. 9 - 13, 2014. In the TWDM-PON for NG-PON2 which is being standardized in the ITU-T/FSAN, developments toward the commercial use were published, for instance prototypes of OLT/ONU transceivers and demonstration using prototypes which also implemented MAC. In addition, this year’s studies focused on various kinds of PON technologies of OFDM based PON, Digital Signal Processing based PON, Coherent based PON and Mobile Front / Back haul. Further progress can be expected in the future.
