Effect of interaural time difference for localization of spatially segregated sound

(in English) This paper clarifies the role of interaural time difference (ITD) in localization of spatially segregated sound. Four subjects were asked to separate two white noises with various ITD. In the results, segregating rate reaches 80% when ITD between two white noises is corresponding to an angular difference of 45 degrees. Segregated rate drops to 50%, the standard segregated discriminations, when ITD between two white noises is corresponding to an angular difference of 15 degrees. In addition, segregated rate varied among individuals. These results suggest that sounds can be spatially segregated using even only ITD.
