GNSS is widely used in aircraft navigation. On the other hand, APNT (Alternate Position, Navigation and Timing) is required to know an own position in case of GNSS signal losses. One of the candidates is a DME/DME positioning system which uses 2 stations of legacy DME (Distance Measurement Equipment). However, high accuracy position measurement is required for APNT, because it should replace the GNSS. So, some improvements should be required for legacy DME. Many researches have been conducted in recent years. One of the error factors is atmospheric propagation delay which is caused by tropospheric propagation. Though correction of a nominal component in atmospheric delay is not difficult with an error correction model, it is difficult to correct fluctuations of the ranging errors caused by changes of meteorological phenomena. The fluctuations should be clarified in order to estimate the accuracy of APNT. This report shows the amount of the ranging errors caused by the meteorological phenomena. At first, this report shows the fluctuation caused by changings of air masses. |
