Recently, a digital pen has been regarded as one of the feasible tools transmitting patients information from a remote location to a hospital. Here, we investigated a possible influence of the electromagnetic waves emitted from a digital pen on flight instruments and medical devices installed inside of a helicopter ambulance. In particular, we focused on two cases: 1) propellers were rotated and 2) a digital pen was used. In each case, we measured low frequency magnetic fields and high frequency electric fields inside a helicopter. Furthermore, we tested possible electromagnetic interference to the flight instruments and four types of medical devices installed in a helicopter. When the pen was used, the electromagnetic environment of about -60 dB of the maximal electric fields (JIST0601-1-2) was observed. Furthermore, during the operation test based on the operation regulations, all of these instruments and devices operated normally. Thereby, we considered that the electromagnetic compatibility within a helicopter ambulance was secured even when a digital pen was used. |
