Odd-Number-Element Double Slot Array Antennas for Simplified 60GHz Beam-forming Antenna

(in English) In order to lower beam-forming antenna implementation complexity (phase shifters (90 degree step)) for multi-Gbps transmission in 60 GHz band, this paper proposes beam-forming antennas composed of odd numbered element double slot arrays. The symmetry of the antenna configuration reduces the phase combinations dramatically. complexity reduction of the proposed antennas is common for all odd numbered element double slot arrays and contributes to easier fabrication of antennas and power consumption reduction. To validate this concept, a 7-element beam-forming antenna has been simulated. Simulation results show the 7 element beam forming antenna reduces the number of phase combination to 66 percent. Thus, the proposed array antenna configuration is highly effective especially for mobile terminal implementation that mandates easy and low lower operation.
