The number of APs in a Wireless LAN increases to enable many clients’ access in network. On the other hand, we are concerned about the increase of energy consumption in a Wireless LAN which consists of high-density APs. One of previous works forms clusters from APs which are close each other, and a Wireless LAN controller always powers on an AP to maintain a service area in each clusters. In a same cluster, the Wireless LAN controller manages the sleep or wake-up for APs dependent on the amount of traffic in APs and changes the connection of clients to one of other APs in order to reduce the traffic concentration. In this case, clients should originally associate with an AP which clients are able to connect for the other APs in a same cluster. However, clients associate with the closest AP and can’t move to other APs in a same cluster. In this paper, we propose the AP selection method for the client to be able to connect for more APs in a cluster. |
