Improvements of FBS Resource Utilization and Convergence Time of ABS Assignment using Dynamic ABS Assignment in HetNet

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In HetNet (Heterogeneous Network), low transmit power base stations (BSs) such as pico and femto BSs (PBSs and FBSs) are deployed in highly dense area or in indoor area within the coverage of macro cells.
Since BSs are close to each other in HetNet, indoor or cell-edge users are likely to experience outage due to inter-cell interference.
Therefore, almost blank subframe (ABS) technique used to indicate the transmission stop time of the BSs is proposed to mitigate inter-cell interference.
One of conventional ABS techniques is dynamic ABS assignment, which is able to adapt to interference environments.
In the dense deployment of BSs, FBS's resource utilization decreases due to the increase of the number of ABS assignments.
In addition, the ABS assignment time should be short enough to adapt to the change of environments.
In this report, we propose a dynamic ABS assignment method to improve FBS resource utilization and convergence time of subframe assignment.
In the proposed method, each BS gets the feedback from the surrounding BSs and users.
Controlling the number of feedback makes the convergence of subframe assignment fast.
Through simulation, we compare our proposed method with the conventional dynamic ABS assignment.
We show that the proposed method improves convergence time of subframe assignment and FBS resource utilization.
