Pulse wave evaluation is suitable for screening arteriosclerosis. Pulse wave is composed of two displacement waveforms: incident and reflected waves. We have proposed a method to extract the reflected wave from the pulse wave at the left common carotid artery. There was a good correlation between the age and the maximum amplitude of the reflected wave. The common carotid artery branches into two types of carotid arteries. In this study, to check the characteristics of the reflected wave in detail, we focus on the reflected wave obtained at back and forth of the carotid bifurcation. We compared the pulse waves and blood flow velocity at the left common carotid artery with those at the left internal carotid artery. The pulse and blood flow velocity waveforms changed depending on the measurement positions. However, the amplitudes of estimated reflected waves stayed similar. |
