Development of Digital Cell Manipulation Station for Massively Parallel Analysis of Single Cells

(in English) This study aims to place single cells in an array format for massively parallel analysis of cellular functions. Cell manipulation system is composed of a cell feeder, micromanipulator array, and microwell array. Bidirectional electroosmotic pumps, driven by DC-biased AC voltages, were used to manipulate cells. We applied voltage on surrounding comb electrodes of a cell feeder and generated a flow toward a central microwell array. In the central region, a dielectrophoretic force was used to trap single cells in a microwell. A manipulator array was fabricated by connecting a micronozzle array with a pump. We demonstrate suction of cells into nozzle holes using the manipulator array.
