This study aims to place single cells in an array format for massively parallel analysis of cellular functions. Cell manipulation system is composed of a cell feeder, micromanipulator array, and microwell array. Bidirectional electroosmotic pumps, driven by DC-biased AC voltages, were used to manipulate cells. We applied voltage on surrounding comb electrodes of a cell feeder and generated a flow toward a central microwell array. In the central region, a dielectrophoretic force was used to trap single cells in a microwell. A manipulator array was fabricated by connecting a micronozzle array with a pump. We demonstrate suction of cells into nozzle holes using the manipulator array. |
