Performance of CSK communication systems with Displays and Cameras

(in English) CSK (Color Shift Keying) is one of the Visible Light Communication (VLC) modulation schemes approved as part of IEEE802.15.7-VLC in 2011.
With CSK, transferring data from a display device to cameras becomes possible without requiring any additional equipment.
In addition to explaining what CSK is, this report covers the details on a display-device-to-camera data communication prototype as well as the results from performance evaluation tests.
The prototype was made only with off-the-shelf consumer products.
With 4CSK 16$times$16 matrix and the device (a display monitor and camera) placed 2 meters apart, our experiments confirmed that the bit error rate (BER) can be as low as $10^{-3}$.
