Transmit filtering, precoding, or power allocation possibly increase peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of transmit signal in single carrier (SC) transmission due to change in frequency-domain spectrum. The authors have proposed a frequency-domain based selective mapping (FD-SLM) for reducing the PAPR occurred from applying transmit frequency-domain equalization (Tx-FDE) based on minimum mean-square error (MMSE) criterion, however, it provides minor contribution for conventional SC and SC with pulse shaping. On the other hand, it is known that a “bad” arrangement of data symbols in a transmission block leads to high peak power, which motivates the authors to employ phase rotation in time domain. In this paper, we introduce the technique of employing phase rotation in time-domain transmit signal as time-domain SLM (TD-SLM) for SC signal. TD-SLM is applied to both conventional SC-FDE and SC with Tx-FDE. PAPR performance of those transmission schemes are evaluated by computer simulation, and compared to SC transmission without SLM and SC transmission with FD-SLM. Pulse shaping using square-root Nyquist pulse is also considered in this paper. |
